New Project LLC is a full-service design, fabrication, and installation company, specializing in museum and gallery projects. Drawing on over twenty years of experience in art and design, we assist clients with brainstorming, conception, and technical problem-solving, as well as fabrication, art handling, and installation. In addition to offering customized work in a wide range of materials at our Brooklyn shop, we also offer our clients onsite services at museums and galleries, overseeing installation crews and collaborating closely with appropriate in-house staff members.

New Project was formed by artists Dennis Potami and Patrick Barth in 2004 as a company specializing in museum and gallery specific fabrication and installation services. Since the company’s inception, they have built and installed numerous exhibits and displays, both temporary and permanent, in many of the major institutions in New York City including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Brooklyn Museum of Art, the American Museum of Natural History, and the New York Historical Society. In addition to their extensive work in New York and its surrounding areas, New Project has also been called upon to manage the installation of traveling exhibits throughout the world. Some of the many international clients include the Venice Biennale, Tokyo Museum of Contemporary Art, the Museum National d’Histoire Naturelle, Sao Paulo Museum of Art, Abu Dhabi Cultural Foundation, and Canadian Museum of Civilization.

New Project assists clients with technical problem-solving, CAD detailing, fabrication, art handling and installation. The firm offers customized work in a wide range of materials. Capabilities include welding, metal forming, casting, CNC routing, fine woodworking, and glass and acrylic vitrine fabrication. New Project also offers on-site services at museums and galleries, overseeing installation crews and collaborating closely with general contractors, architects, and designers. Services can be scaled to accommodate large-scale projects domestically and internationally. The firm provides services at any stage of the creative or planning process and helps make implementation as smooth and seamless as possible.
The shop occupies 12,500 square feet in a 2-story building on 25th Street between 4th and 5th Avenues in Brooklyn and employees more than 25 full-time carpenters, metal smiths, artisans, installers, and an administrative staff.
Patrick Barth was raised in Utah, studied sculpture at Ohio State University, and briefly taught sculpture and drawing at Bowling Green State University prior to moving to New York City. Patrick was the head art handler and preparator at a prestigious NYC art gallery gaining extensive experience in handling, crating, and installing delicate and valuable works of art. He was also chief finish carpenter for a well-respected, high-end renovation company for many years, honing his fine carpentry skills.
Dennis Potami studied sculpture at Maryland Institute College of Art and Virginia Commonwealth University and also briefly taught sculpture at Bowling Green State University.Dennis worked as a professional artist for years, exhibiting and traveling to numerous artist residencies around the country.Through the years studying and making sculpture, he has worked for many other artists and tradesmen developing a vast knowledge of materials and methods for solving unique making challenges.
