Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty

Metropolitan Museum of Art | SAT3

Fluidity of forms permeated the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute’s most recent gala fundraiser exhibit, “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty.” New Project was challenged to deliver a seamless integration of undulating platforms and cantilevered mannequin brackets within a series of curvilinear walls. The complex exhibit elements and displays also included nine sculptural metal pedestals presenting signature looks that embodied the theme of each individual gallery, the largest of which weighed 900 pounds. The ovoid Ellipse structure housed a unique video interactive experience with a custom steel pedestal with pivoting lid, integrated A/V, acid-etched raised lettering, and custom mount paired with a series of centrally-mounted iPhones.

New Project provided Design Engineering, Prototyping, Fabrication, and Installation services in our collaboration with the Met’s exhibition teams and the exhibit designers SAT3.
